Are They Flourishing In Our Presence?

"My emotional, spiritual and physical response to daily life can snowball to the rest of my family and bring peace and life or bring stress and destruction.

"Run to Him each morning, each moment, and beg for His mercy and wisdom and spirit. Meet with Him when you wake up and commit your words, your thoughts–your whole day to Him."

When Motivation is Lacking

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Motherhood ~ A Poem

Instead of silken china scarf,
Petal-soft touch of tiny arms.
Instead of gold and silver bands,
The precious clasp of baby hands.

Instead of roses’ musky scent,
The milky breath of sweet infant.
Instead of diamonds on my breast,
Sparkling tears adorn my chest.

Instead of empty marble halls,
The sound of laughter and little footfalls.
Instead of a priceless masterpiece,
Small hands create a bright motif.

Instead of rustling satin gown,
Daisy chains and a clover crown.
Instead of soothing symphonies,
The lisp of childish sympathies.

And would I trade my clover crown,
For diamonds and a satin gown?
No—for all the world, I never would
Renounce the joys of motherhood.

Tools For Tenderness

"...God has entrusted us to prepare the hearts of our children for the Savior. We are tools used by God to whittle away the calluses of the heart, keeping the heart tender and inclined to obedience."

Deep Down, They Want to Know Mother is Always One Step Ahead

"A mother or father who can be hoodwinked is a person easy to reckon with in the mind of even the best child. For children are always playing a game—half of chance, half of skill; they are trying how far they can go, how much of the management of their own lives they can get for the taking, and how much they must leave in the hands of the stronger powers. Therefore the mother who is not up to children is at their mercy."

It's All Sacred Work

"The time of business does not with me differ from the time of prayer, and the noise and clatter of my kitchen, while several persons are at the same time calling for different things, I possess God as if I were upon my knees at the blessed sacrament."

~Brother Lawrence
(1614-1691)
French monk and author
