When I Parent From My Selfish Flesh

"Am I correcting my child because he has sinned against God or because his behavior has caused me some personal discomfort, embarrassment, or trouble?"

  1. While this is true, I feel we still need to discipline when our children do things that are social unacceptable, for example, embarrassing us in public. Where I tend to screw up is is when I discipline out of annoyance at my routine or agenda being interrupted. Have a blessed day!

  2. I agree. And I love that in the case of socially unacceptable behavior or embarrassing mom in public, at the heart of the issue is manners, or showing kindness, or not making others uncomfortable, or hurting others' ears...all of which point back to obeying parents and God.

And yes, keeping the routine yet lovingly dealing with interruptions remains a maternal challenge! Let me know if you find any gems of quotes on this issue to bless me and others. :)
